Whether you are setting up a new office cleaning contract or reviewing an existing one, having a clear and detailed checklist of what should be cleaned — and how often — is the most effective way to ensure your cleaning program is actually delivering the standard your business needs.
This checklist is based on our standard office cleaning scope for commercial premises across Perth. It can be used as a reference when briefing a new cleaning company, as a benchmark for auditing your existing cleaning contract, or as the basis for a written scope of work for your building.
Daily Office Cleaning Tasks
The following tasks should be completed on every cleaning visit for offices with regular daily use. For offices with less frequent occupancy, some of these may be consolidated into a less frequent program, but for any office where staff or clients are present daily, daily cleaning of all these areas is the appropriate standard.
Workstations, Desks and Personal Work Areas
- Remove rubbish from all desk areas and individual waste bins
- Wipe down desk surfaces in clear areas or where desk-clearing policy permits
- Tidy common desk areas and meeting table surfaces
- Wipe down shared work surfaces including printer areas, copy stations and shared benching
Floor Surfaces
- Vacuum all carpeted areas including edges, under desks and around furniture legs
- Mop all hard floor surfaces including tiles, vinyl, timber and polished concrete

- Sweep or vacuum entry matting and threshold areas
Kitchen and Breakroom Areas

- Wipe exterior of all appliances — microwave, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, fridge

- Mop kitchen floor surface
- Wipe down any dining table and chairs used in the kitchen area
Reception, Entry and Common Areas

- Vacuum or mop all entry, foyer and corridor floor surfaces
- Wipe down internal entry glass, sidelights and door panels
- Remove any litter or debris from entry areas and waiting seating
Weekly Office Cleaning Tasks
The following should be completed at least weekly in any active office environment. For some items, fortnightly may be sufficient in lower-use premises
- Damp wipe skirting boards, door frames and door architraves throughout
- Clean all internal glass partitions and glass walls with appropriate glass cleaner
- Wipe down all light switches, door handles and lock plates throughout the office
- Full internal clean of microwave, including turntable removal
- Spot clean walls and painted surfaces for marks and fingerprints throughout
- Clean lift interior walls, floor and button panels if applicable
- Wipe down all visitor seating and waiting area furniture
- Clean and dust internal window sills throughout
Monthly and Periodic Office Cleaning Tasks
These tasks are typically carried out monthly or on a defined periodic schedule and are often included in a separate periodic clean rate rather than the base weekly program.
- High dusting of air conditioning grilles, vents, ceiling fans and tops of storage units
- Detailed cleaning of window ledges and sill areas
- Carpet spot treatment program for any staining
- Hard floor machine scrub, buff or burnish depending on floor type and condition
- Full clean behind and under furniture where accessible
- Detailed cleaning of all storage room areas
- Wipe down and clean all wall-mounted equipment — screens, whiteboards, noticeboards
What Is Generally Not Included in a Standard Office Cleaning Scope
The following are typically outside a standard office cleaning scope and should be priced and agreed separately if required:
- External window cleaning — whether from outside the building or from height using access equipment
- Hard floor stripping, resealing or refinishing programs
- Carpet steam cleaning or hot water extraction
- Cleaning of computer equipment, keyboards or monitors
- Internal cleaning of dishwasher, oven or fridge
- Disposal or cleaning of items belonging to specific staff members
Using This Checklist to Set Up a New Office Cleaning Contract
When engaging a new office cleaning company in Perth, use this checklist as the starting point for your scope of work discussion. For every item that matters to you, ensure it is specifically included in the written scope at an agreed frequency. Do not leave anything as assumed — different cleaning companies have different default inclusions and the only way to be certain is to have it written down.
Our office cleaning team provides every client with a detailed, written scope of work before cleaning begins — whether you are based in Perth CBD, Subiaco, Osborne Park or anywhere across the metro area. What matters to you goes in writing.
